Submission #2500

Strong pedagogical support is essential in early childhood environments to ensure all children receive the care, attention, and learning opportunities they deserve. Many children are not yet able to fully express their needs, advocate for themselves, or communicate when they are struggling. It is our responsibility as educators to recognize these needs and speak on their behalf.

When adequate support staff are not in place, educators are stretched beyond what is reasonable to meet the wide range of needs in the classroom. This makes it challenging to provide consistent, intentional support for every child. As a result, some children do not receive the focused attention and support they truly deserve, while others may not be fully engaged or supported in their learning.

A lack of pedagogical support also impacts the overall flow of the day. When classrooms are not properly supported, routines become more challenging, transitions are less smooth, and children can feel the stress within the environment. This often leads to increased frustration and behaviors, as children rely on consistency, connection, and responsive care to feel secure.

Investing in pedagogical support is not just about staffing—it is about creating a balanced, responsive, and nurturing environment where all children can thrive. With the right support in place, educators are better equipped to provide high-quality learning experiences, build strong relationships, and ensure every child feels seen, heard, and valued.

We are advocating to ensure this support remains in place because it directly impacts the well-being, development, and daily experience of every child in our care. Every child deserves a classroom where their needs are met, their voices are supported, and their learning is fully valued.
