Submission #2484

By Megan McPhee

Our daughter is autistic, and transitions, whether arriving at care, moving between activities, or adjusting to change, often require additional time, patience, and understanding. These are exactly the moments where Pedagogical Support Staff make a difference: when a child needs a quieter approach, extra reassurance, or individualized support that can’t be rushed. Having this role in place does not just support educators, it supports our kid’s well‑being and sense of belonging, and it supports families who rely on early learning environments to truly meet their children where they are. Their impact is visible everywhere: in children who feel supported and understood, in educators who feel more confident and less stretched, and in centres better equipped to meet the diverse needs of families and communities.
