Submission #2518

I have to say, I was very shocked to hear the news that our pedagogical support funding was being pulled. I truly do not understand how this could be happening.
Working in an early years centre, we see firsthand every day the positive impact these positions provide — not only for the children, but for the staff as well.
These positions are not just a want; they are a need.
We already have very limited support on the floor. Most of us work 9–9.5 hour days with only a 30-minute break, and many times we are short-staffed.
Pedagogical support positions allow ECEs the time to plan meaningful activities that enrich our children’s lives. They provide extra care, extra support, and more eyes on our children to ensure their well-being and safety.
Without this support, there are times when staff cannot even take a bathroom break. That is how essential these positions are.
Removing this funding will directly impact the quality of care, support, and enrichment we are able to provide to children and families. These roles matter, and the difference they make is seen every single day.
