We love the center that my children attend. We are so lucky to have staff that love and care for our children as if they were their own. Due to these cuts one of my children’s favourite staff members is losing 50% of their hours. This staff member not only plays with her and teaches her the things she will need to know when she attends school, but she teaches her kindness and lets her help with chores around the daycare which are skills that she will carry with her for her entire life.
How can we expect people to stay, or enter into jobs where they aren’t able to make a liveable wage? This is a job that requires such strong teaching skills, emotional intelligence, compassion, and an open heart to the little people who are our future. They help them learn to talk, walk, interact with friends, use the washroom independently, share their belongings, write their names and so much more.
Why are we taking money away from the people who hold the future in their hands?
