The cook will prepare healthy meals and snacks following a set menu, manage kitchen inventory, maintain cleanliness and food safety. Key responsibilities: - Prepare morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack for all classrooms, following a set menu. - Prepare grocery order - Serve meals to each classroom on time, at the appropriate temperature. - Work with staff to collect meal numbers before food preparation each day. - Prepare the appropriate amount of food for each classroom meeting all guidelines. - Maintain a clean and organized kitchen including all food storage areas. - As needed, relieve the educators for washroom breaks and or lunch breaks.
Required Skills
• Current criminal record check with vulnerable sector check
• Must have first aid / CPR certificate
• Must have or willing to obtain the food safety course
Required Experience
• Excellent time management skills
• Strong organizational and cleaning skills
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and child-specific dietary needs.
• Experience preparing meals for large groups considered an asset
• Previous experience as a cook/chef considered an asset (childcare setting preferred).
